Unidentified assailants opened fire at the house of a police officer in Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Dagestan early on Wednesday, injuring his wife, a police source said.
“Persons unknown fired at the house of a patrol officer in the village of Sulak. As a result of the attack, his wife received slight injuries,” the spokesperson said.
He also added that explosive devices had been found planted outside the house.
Militant attacks on police, federal troops and officials are common in the North Caucasus republics of Dagestan, Ingushetia and Chechnya.
