U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will visit Azerbaijan and Armenia on July 4-5 under her trip to Eastern Europe and the Caucasus region, PhilipGordon, Assistant Secretary on European and Eurasian Affairs said on Saturday.
He said Clinton would meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov on July 4. She will also have an opportunity to talk about freedom of press with youth, Gordon added.
"We believe it [Clinton's visit] will contribute to strengthening and expanding of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States and bring bilateral ties to a new level," a spokesman for the Azerbaijani president said.
After her visit to Baku, Clinton will head for Armenia, where she will also meet with country's president and minister of foreign affairs.
"A wide range of issues concerning development of U.S.-Armenian partnership is included into the agenda of the forthcoming meeting. Regional and international problems of common interest will be discussed," a statement by Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
