Russian gas monopoly Gazprom, Axens oil-refining company and research and training centre IFP plan to expand joint development and approbation of the Russian-French natural gas liquefaction technology, Gazprom-Liquefin, Gazprom said on Thursday.

Russian gas monopoly Gazprom, Axens oil-refining company and research and training centre IFP plan to expand joint development and approbation of the Russian-French natural gas liquefaction technology, Gazprom-Liquefin, Gazprom said on Thursday.

The companies decided on signing an interaction agreement at the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg.

Under the agreement a demonstration commercial LNG plant would be built and the joint Gazprom-Liquefin trademark would be registered.

“This advanced technology will enable to reduce our dependence on external suppliers, produce LNG equipment in Russia, train domestic specialists in using the relevant know-how, and promote Gazprom’s image of a global energy company,” said Vlada Rusakova, Gazprom head for corporate development, science and ecology administration.

Axens, a wholly owned subsidiary of IFP, is an international provider of advanced technologies, catalysts, adsorbents and services. Axens is focused on the conversion of oil, coal, natural gas and biomass to clean fuels as well as production and purification of major petrochemical intermediates.
