Security will be heightened during the international forum "Russia – Country of Sports," but will not make guests and participants feel uncomfortable, a deputy Moscow mayor said.

Security will be heightened during the international forum "Russia – Country of Sports," but will not make guests and participants feel uncomfortable, a deputy Moscow mayor said.

“Even unprecedented security measures ought not to discomfort the participants of the forum. Everything must be done invisibly but effectively,” said Sergei Baidakov.

The official said the security concept for the event has been approved and a detained plan for each day of the forum, which will gather a total of 3,000 people, is being prepared.

“I think normal comfortable conditions for the participants and guests of the forum will be created but at the same time providing security is one of our major tasks,” the deputy mayor said.

The forum, scheduled for July 29-August 1, aims to promote sports, healthy lifestyles and Olympic values among Russians as well as improving international sports cooperation.

The event will also hold the Russian Presidential Cup for combat sambo, Europe’s Junior Championship for rowing and canoeing as well as a ceremonial reception at Gostiny Dvor.

President Dmitry Medvedev, Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov and famous Russian and foreign athletes are expected to attend the forum, which is set to be one of the major sports events of the year in Russia.
