Tverskoy district court ruled on Friday to uphold Moscow City Government's ban on a gay pride parade in the city centre, Gay rights activist Nikolai Alexeyev told Russian Agency of Legal and Court Information (RAPSI).

"We were forbidden to hold the parade on the grounds that events are apparently already taking place on all areas designated for public meetings," Alexeyev said.

This is the fifth year in a row that the parade has been banned in Moscow.

Alexeyev said earlier that the parade will be held in Moscow whether it is allowed by the authorities or not.

Suggestions were earlier made that the parade could be held on the grounds of a foreign embassy in Moscow but none of the embassies supported this idea.
