The Czech Republic won the 2010 Ice Hockey World Championship after defeating 2-1 reigning champions Russia in the final game in Germany.

Jakub Klepis of the Czech Republic opened the score with just 20 seconds in the first period and his teammate Tomas Rolinek increased the score with another goal in the second period.

Russia's Pavel Datsyuk was the one to score for his team a single goal against the Czechs late in the third period.

The Czechs has stopped Russia's winning streak of 27 straight victories and took the title for the first time in five years.

The bronze medals of the championship went to Sweden after they defeated hosts Germany 3-1.
