The speaker of the upper house of the Russian parliament has arrived to Poland with an official visit and discussed in Warsaw organization issues of the Second Forum of the Russian and Polish regions which is due to be held on Tuesday.

Sergei Mironov has flown to Krakow on Sunday to lay flowers at the grave of the Polish President Lech Kaczynski, who died in a plane crash in April, and at the monument to the Soviet soldiers, who were killed liberating Poland during World War II.

Sergei Mironov will meet with acting Polish president Bronislaw Komorowski and Prime Minister Donald Tusk and together with Poland's Senate Speaker Bogdan Borusewicz will open the Second Forum of the Russian and Polish regions.

Relations between Moscow and Warsaw, which have been hampered by historic past events, seem to have improved in the wake of the April crash near west Russia's Smolensk that killed President Kaczynski and dozens of Polish top officials.

Bronislaw Komorowski attended Victory Day celebrations in Moscow and a Polish honor guard unit took part in a military parade on Red Square on May 9 together with Russian, U.S., British and French units.
