Prague Castle will be closed to visitors for three days while the Czech capital hosts the signing ceremony for the new Russian-U.S. treaty on strategic arms cuts, Czech radio reported on Sunday.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his U.S. counterpart, Barack Obama, will meet in Prague on April 8 to sign the replacement to the 1991 START 1 treaty, which expired on December 5 last year.
The ceremony is to take place in Prague Castle, and the popular tourist attraction will be completely closed to all visitors on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The measure affects the castle grounds and its museums and art galleries.
Traffic in Prague will also be limited on these days, with parking prohibited in some areas.
About 1,000 Czech police will provide security for the meeting, and the airspace above Prague will be patrolled by air force fighters and helicopters. Teams trained to deal with radiological, biological and chemical attacks will also be on high alert.
