Anzhi Makhachkala became the first of the three promoted sides to win in the Russian Premier League this season with a 2-0 home win over fellow newcomers Alania Vladikavkaz on Saturday.

Goals in each half - a penalty from Andrei Streltsov after 35 minutes and Czech forward Jan Holenda's first goal for the club on 53 minutes - secured the win for the Dagestan side, who won the First Division in 2009.

Alania, who were only promoted after financial trouble forced FC Moskva to withdraw from the championship, are third bottom with two draws and two defeats, a point above Sibir. The runners-up in the First Division last season are also still looking for their first win after a 3-1 loss to Amkar in Perm.

In Saturday's other game, Spartak Nalchik continued their fine start to the season with a 5-2 win over Rostov that takes them three points clear at the top of the table.

Spartak have won three straight after opening the season with a goalless draw against Anzhi in Dagestan.

The day's big game, CSKA Moscow against Zenit St. Petersburg, was postponed due to security fears at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium following the suicide bombings in the Russian capital on Monday.
