Norway won the women's cross country skiing relay at the Vancouver Winter Olympics on Thursday, ahead of Germany and Finland.

Norway won the women's cross country skiing relay at the Vancouver Winter Olympics on Thursday, ahead of Germany and Finland.

Russia's team finished eighth, leaving it with just one gold medal, one silver and two bronze in the cross-country skiing with just two events remaining. Russia has never won less than two cross-country golds at the Winter Games.

The Norwegian team completed the four 5 km legs in 55:19.5, with the Germans 24.6 seconds behind and the Finns a further 5.8 seconds back.

The Russian quartet — Olga Zavjalova, Irina Khazova, Evgenia Medvedev and Natalia Korosteleva — was 1 minute 41.4 seconds off the pace.
