Warsaw could get an additional billion euros ($1.35 billion) from Brussels in 2011-2012 as a reward for the country's dynamic economic growth in recent years, Polish Radio reported on Thursday.

It cited informal sources as saying substantial funds were earmarked for Poland from a special 3 billion-euro fund for countries that have shown more rapid economic growth than Brussels expected.

As well as Poland, funds will be going to the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Warsaw will be able to channel the additional funds to poorer regions, and to support infrastructure and environmental projects, the report said.

Poland's GDP grew 1.7% in 2009, year-on-year, and the country is projected to remain one of the EU's fastest-growing economies, with GDP expected increase by 2.3% in 2010 and 3.1% in 2011.
