Russia's metals giant Norilsk Nickel posted a 6% decrease year-on-year in nickel output to 282,900 metric tons in 2009, with last year's copper production down 4% to 402,000 metric tons against 2008.

Russia's metals giant Norilsk Nickel posted a 6% decrease year-on-year in nickel output to 282,900 metric tons in 2009, with last year's copper production down 4% to 402,000 metric tons against 2008.

The company plans to produce some 234,000 metric tons of nickel at its Russian plants and another 65,000 to 75,000 at Norilsk Nickel International facilities in 2010.

The company's domestic copper output is expected to reach around 363,000 metric tons, and its foreign subsidiaries should yield another 30,000-35,000 metric tons this year.
