At least six people were killed and dozens injured when three train accidents occurred in Uttar Pradesh, northern India, over poor visibility, the NDTV channel said on Saturday.

Officials said six people were killed and 25 injured when an express rammed into another train near the Panki railway station in Kanpur, the channel reported.

In Etawah, two trains collided near the Sarai Bhuft station this morning. Thirteen people were injured, but there were no reports of deaths. A third accident took place near Allahabad.

Flight operations at the IGI airport in New Delhi came to a standstill in the morning due to the fog and a fault in the CAT III B instrument landing system used for approach guidance during limited visibility, the channel said.

There was chaos at the New Delhi railway station too. Fog disrupted over 54 trains. Passengers remained stuck for several hours.

NDTV said the fog led to a breakdown in the Northern Grid causing it to trip. Power supply to four states has been affected.
