The European figure skating championships will be held in Tallinn, Estonia, from January 18 to 24. The Trainers’ Council and the Presidium of the Russian Figure Skating Federation met in St. Petersburg after the national championships to select members of the Russian team.

Plyushchenko scored a record-setting 271.59 points for the summarized short and optional programs. Sergei Voronov came in next with silver (240.01), and Artyom Borodulin with bronze (234.92).
