Gas supply in the north of Russia's North Caucasus Republic of Ingushetia has restarted after an accident at the trunk pipeline, the republic's emergencies ministry said on Sunday.

Gas supply in the north of Russia's North Caucasus Republic of Ingushetia has restarted after an accident at the trunk pipeline, the republic's emergencies ministry said on Sunday.

The accident occurred on Saturday evening when a gas pipeline running from North Ossetia to Ingushetia broke down, leaving residents of the Malgobek district without heating.

The emergencies ministry said gas supply restarted after a reserve pipe was put into operation.

"The situation has been normalized by now, heating has been restored and the damaged pipe is under repairs," the emergencies ministry said.

A week ago, gas supplies to Armenia and Russia's North Caucasus republics of North Ossetia and Ingushetia were suspended after a bomb was found on the pipeline running from Mozdok in North Ossetia to Georgia.

The gas supplies resumed on Tuesday after bomb technicians deactivated two explosive devices planted on the pipeline.
