UEFA head Michel Platini will inspect once more the four Ukrainian cities due to host Euro 2012 matches, the mayor of Donetsk said on Tuesday.

Ukraine has been hit hard by the global economic downturn and there was some doubt that it would be able to host its full share of games. But, after months' of uncertainty, the Ukrainian cities of Kharkov, Lvov and Donetsk finally received UEFA approval on Friday to host Euro 2012 matches. Kiev was confirmed as the venue for the final.

But Platini also said in a letter to the Ukrainian authorities that UEFA reserved the right to strip any of the cities of the right to hold games.

"He promised to visit Donetsk, Kharkov and Lvov on February 4-7 to make sure of the quality and tempo of their preparations," Alexander Lukyanchenko was quoted as saying by the Unian news agency.

Ukraine will host the tournament with neighbor Poland. This is the first time the championships have been given to Eastern Europe.
