The Oasis of the Seas, the world's largest cruise liner, will start out on its first voyage with passengers on board on December 1.

The four-day voyage will take holidaymakers who paid at least $650 each to the private resort of Labadee on Haiti and back. Royal Caribbean International, the company organizing the voyage, has not given further details.

The 360-meter (1,200 feet) ship, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, cost nearly $1.5 billion to build. The 16-deck, 2,700-cabin vessel left the Finnish shipyard in Turku in October.

The ship took STX Finland Cruise Oy over 2 years to build.

The Oasis of the Seas, which is nearly 40% larger than any other cruise ship, can accommodate 6,300 passengers and a crew of 2,100. It also has an ice rink and a small golf course, several swimming pools, other sport venues and parks, as well as a theater.

The new liner will mainly cruise in the Caribbean Sea. STX Finland Cruise Oy is now building a sister vessel, the Allure of the Seas, due to be completed in late 2010.
