Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his Turkmen counterpart, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, will discuss bilateral economic and energy cooperation in Moscow on Sunday, a Kremlin source said on Saturday.

The presidents of the two ex-Soviet states will focus on ways to push further progress in bilateral economic contacts, the Kremlin official said. He added that Russia was Turkmenistan's No. 1 trade partner.

He described as stable Russian-Turkmen energy cooperation based on a long-term agreement on Turkmen natural gas supplies to Russia until 2028.

The two leaders will also discuss prospects of cooperation in agriculture, transportation, telecoms, manufacturing industries and supplies of mechanical engineering products, the Kremlin source said.

Medvedev and Berdymukhamedov are also expected to exchange opinions on global and regional cooperation, and the fight against international terrorism, drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.

The situation in Afghanistan and interaction within the CIS and the Caspian Five will also be discussed, according to the Kremlin.

"Russia believes that the working visit by the Turkmen president will help boost partnership relations..., and strengthen cooperation in regional and international issues," the source said.
