SINGAPORE, November 15 (RIA Novosti) - Leaders of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation member countries agreed on Sunday to keep stimulus policies in place until a durable economic recovery was achieved.
"We will maintain our economic stimulus policies until a durable economic recovery has clearly taken hold," the 21 leaders of the Pacific Rim countries said in a statement following the completion of their two-day annual summit.
The Asia Pacific leaders also said that economic recovery was not yet based on a solid footing and pledged to reject protectionist measures.
"Our commitments to reject protectionism and keep our markets open and free have enabled trade to be part of the solution rather than the problem," the leaders said in their joint declaration.
The Asia Pacific leaders also urged the creation of a new growth paradigm and a fresh model of economic integration.
"We will pursue growth which is balanced, inclusive and sustainable, supported by innovation and a knowledge-based economy, to ensure a durable recovery that will create jobs and benefit our people," the leaders said in their statement.
