A Russian airliner with 267 passengers and 12 crew members on board has landed safely in Moscow's Vnukovo International Airport, an airport spokesman told RIA Novosti on Saturday.

MOSCOW, October 24 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian airliner with 267 passengers and 12 crew members on board has landed safely in Moscow's Vnukovo International Airport, an airport spokesman told RIA Novosti on Saturday.

"The airplane has landed safely and experts are now checking it," the spokesman said.

After the A-330 passenger plane took off from the Vladivostok airport, pieces of the aircraft's wheels were found on the runway.

The aircraft continued its route to Moscow instead of returning to Vladivostok because the plane would have to burn up or dump its fuel before attempting an emergency landing in Vladivostok.

"After the A-330 took off from Vladivostok, pieces of the tires were found on the runway, most likely from that particular airplane," an Emergencies Ministry spokesman told RIA Novosti earlier on Saturday.

The aircraft landed in Moscow at approximately 3:00 pm [GMT 11.00].
