Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will meet his Czech counterpart, Vaclav Klaus, in Moscow on Wednesday for talks on bilateral trade, energy cooperation and European security, a Kremlin source said on Tuesday.

MOSCOW, October 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will meet his Czech counterpart, Vaclav Klaus, in Moscow on Wednesday for talks on bilateral trade, energy cooperation and European security, a Kremlin source said on Tuesday.

"The key issues on the international agenda will be discussed, in particular, ways to overcome the global financial crisis in the context of the outcome of the G20 summit in Pittsburgh, the subject of building a new structure for European security, Russia-EU relations and preparations for the forthcoming summit, and also NATO-Russia relations," the source said.

He highlighted energy cooperation, including in the nuclear sector, as the most important element of Russian-Czech trade links.

"Russian organizations are interested in participating in joint projects in this area in the Czech Republic, including those involving third countries. This also will be discussed," he said.

Bilateral trade between the two countries hit a record $10.9 billion in 2008, but fell by half year-on-year to $3.4 billion in the first half of 2009.

Klaus, who has been Czech president for more than six years, made an official visit to Moscow in April 2007 and held talks with Medvedev on the margins of EU-Russia summit in Khabarovsk in May this year.
