A U.S. court has expunged Mel Gibson's conviction for drunk driving in Malibu, California in 2006 when the Oscar-winning actor made anti-Semitic statements speaking to a sheriff's deputy

MOSCOW, October 7 (RIA Novosti) - A U.S. court has expunged Mel Gibson's conviction for drunk driving in Malibu, California in 2006 when the Oscar-winning actor made anti-Semitic statements speaking to a sheriff's deputy, the Los Angeles Times reported.

A breathalyzer showed Gibson's blood-alcohol level was 0.12% with the allowed limit of 0.08% when he was stopped after driving his Lexus at over 85 mph in July 2006.

In his report, the sheriff's deputy quoted the actor as saying: "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world."

Gibson fulfilled the court order to attend meetings for anonymous alcoholics and pay a $1,300 fine, as well as perform public service work, and Judge Lawrence J. Mira agreed to expunge his conviction as he was eligible to have it removed from his record as a first-time drunk driving offender.
