Russia will allocate $50 million as part of the World Bank program to support the poorest developing states.

ISTANBUL, October 4 (RIA Novosti) - Russia will allocate $50 million as part of the World Bank program to support the poorest developing states, according to an agreement signed on Saturday by the Russian finance minister and the World Bank chief.

"We support the World Bank's initiative to help the poorest states amid the crisis," Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said.

He added that $20 million would be allocated from the Russian budget for that purpose this year, and 15 million in each of the two forthcoming years.

Kudrin also said that Russia might help the poorest countries on bilateral basis and by its $7.5-billion contribution to the Eurasec anti-crisis fund.

Earlier in the day, Russia and the World Bank have negotiated the possibility of a $2-4 billion loan in 2010.
