WASHINGTON, September 23 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama will concentrate on Iran during talks on Wednesday in New York, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly earlier in the day, Obama warned the leaders of North Korea and Iran that they would be "held accountable" if they continued to disregard international law.

Iran says it needs nuclear power for electricity generation, but the West suspects it of pursuing a secret nuclear weapons program.

Kremlin aide Sergei Prikhodko said earlier Wednesday that Medvedev had praised Obama's maiden UN speech.

"The president closely familiarized himself with Obama's speech and finds it very interesting and useful," he said.

In his speech, Obama also touched upon strategic arms reduction issues and the global economic crisis.
