CARACAS, September 13 (RIA Novosti) - An 6.4-magnitude earthquake shook Venezuela's Caribbean coast, injuring at least 14 people and causing minor structural damage to several buildings, the local media reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey the epicenter of the quake, which occurred at about 20.10 GMT on Saturday, was 110 kilometers (65 miles) west of the capital, Caracas, and below the sea level at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).

Local television said underground jolts caused several power outages and panic among people in Caracas and nearby regions.

According to preliminary reports at least 14 people, including two children, were injured in the quake.

Local authorities said key oil industry installations were not damaged by the tremor, and there were no signs of a tsunami forming near the coast so far.
