Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin proposed on Tuesday drafting a plan for developing economic cooperation between Russia and The Netherlands.

SOPOT (Poland), September 1 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin proposed on Tuesday drafting a plan for developing economic cooperation between Russia and The Netherlands.

Putin met with his Dutch counterpart, Jan Peter Balkenende, in Poland, where ceremonies to mark the 70th anniversary of the start of World War II took place on Tuesday.

"We have a joint action plan which is expiring, and we should consider working out joint actions for the next few years," Putin told Balkenende.

Last year, the two countries posted a record bilateral trade of some $62 billion and $46 billion of reinvestment, including more than $30 billion of Dutch direct investment in the Russian economy, the Russian premier said.

The Dutch prime minister said the two countries were involved in a number of major projects, including the Sakhalin-II oil and gas project in the Russian Far East.
