MOSCOW, August 29 (RIA Novosti) - Olympic champion Elena Isinbayeva put her disappointing performance in the world championships behind her to set a new pole vault world record in Zurich, Russia's Vesti-24 channel reported.

The 27-year-old improved her world record by one centimeter when she leapt 5:06 meters at the Golden League meeting on Friday evening.

It is the Russian athlete's 27th career record in the event, which she has dominated for the past five years, winning two Olympic golds.

Last week in Berlin Isinbayeva was left out of the medals, when she failed to clear any height at the world championships.

The gold medal was taken by Poland's Anna Rogowska, who took the silver in Zurich.
