The Russian Embassy in Prague has received no official notification about the expulsion of two Russian diplomats from the Czech Republic, an embassy spokesman said on Tuesday.

WARSAW, August 18 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Embassy in Prague has received no official notification about the expulsion of two Russian diplomats from the Czech Republic, an embassy spokesman said on Tuesday.

The CTK news agency reported the expulsions on Monday, identifying one of the diplomats as a deputy military attache.

The agency quoted Czech intelligence sources as saying both diplomats were "working for Russian secret services."

"As of right now, the Russian Embassy in the Czech Republic has received no official communication to that effect from the Czech Foreign Ministry," Vladimir Fyodorov said.

He said he could neither confirm nor deny the media reports.

A Czech Foreign Ministry spokesman contacted by RIA Novosti also declined to comment on the report.

Responding to a journalist's question about the reported expulsions on Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called it a "provocation."

According to the Czech Republic's iDnes web portal, about 200 Russians work at the Prague embassy and the consulates in Brno and Karlovy Vary. A report on the site claims that "two-thirds of them are spies."
