MOSCOW, July 16 (RIA Novosti) - North Korea is currently filming the first biopic about leader Kim Jong Il, amid South Korean reports that his health is failing, the country's state media reported on Thursday.

South Korean TV channel YTN cited unnamed intelligence sources on Monday as saying the reclusive communist state's leader is suffering from pancreatic cancer.

According to North Korea's state news agency KCNA, the first part of documentary has already been produced.

KCNA said the biopic will recount "the immortal Songun revolutionary exploits performed by General Secretary Kim Jong Il for the country and the revolution, the times and humankind with his extraordinary wisdom and distinguished leadership art, political caliber and noble personality."

The military ideas, theories and tactics of the leader will also be described.

Kim Jong-il has ruled North Korea since 1994, when he succeeded his late father Kim Il-sung, the communist state's founder.

According to Soviet records, he was born in 1941 in the Russian village of Vyatskoye near Khabarovsk, where his father commanded a military brigade in which Chinese and Korean exiles served. However, according to Kim's official biography, he was born in 1942 on Baekdu Mountain.
