- Russia's first deputy prime minister said new countries must be admitted to the world grain market to ensure stable production

- Russia could use its grain intervention fund to provide humanitarian aid to countries facing starvation amid the global economic crisis, First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov said

* One police officer was killed and another injured in a militant attack in the south Russian republic of Ingushetia on Sunday morning, investigators said
