DUSHANBE, May 30 (RIA Novosti) - Two Tajik students, who were among a group of foreign students arrested early May 27 in Egypt's capital Cairo, have been released, the Tajik Foreign Ministry said Saturday citing the country's ambassador in Egypt.

At least four Russians are also reported to have been released.

Russian Vice-Consul Yusup Abakarov told RIA Novosti on Friday that representatives from the Russian embassy in Cairo are attempting to hold a meeting with the 34 Russian students arrested by Egyptian authorities on Wednesday morning.

Police also detained students from Russia, the U.K., Denmark, France, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as a number of Arab countries, during a raid on the Al Azhar University.

The Russian Embassy has sent a formal request to Egypt's police authorities for an explanation on the arrests, but has not yet received an official response.
