Russia's state nuclear power corporation Rosatom and Mongolia's atomic energy agency concluded a memorandum of intention to train specialists. The countries' railroad companies, airlines, transportation and agriculture ministries also agreed to cooperate.
Mongolian premier Sanjaagiin Bayar said at the meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin: "We need to speed up work to establish a joint enterprise to produce uranium."
An agreement is being drafted, to be signed by Rosatom and Mongolia's nuclear authorities, which will allow the establishment of a JV to develop uranium deposits in both countries.
Bayar also said: "We are interested in cooperation in nuclear technology development."
Putin said Russia and Mongolia, which is a country with considerable uranium reserves, could agree to jointly produce uranium ore.
"I believe we will be able to revive earlier reached agreements on the joint production and processing of uranium ore," he told journalists after the meeting.
Speaking about economic cooperation, Putin said bilateral turnover in 2008 had reached $1.3 billion.
