MOSCOW, May 11 (RIA Novosti) - U.S. President Barack Obama will pay an official visit to Russia on an invitation from his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev on July 6-8, the Kremlin said Monday.

The agreement on the visit was reached at the first meeting of Medvedev and Obama on April 1 in London at a G20 summit, but the exact date was not indicated.

Obama said Thursday after a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that Moscow and Washington had a great chance to "reset" relations.

"We have an excellent opportunity to reset the relationship between the United States and Russia on a whole host of issues," Obama said after talks in Washington with Russia's top diplomat.

The term "reset" has been used on a number of occasions by the Obama administration with relation to Russia-U.S. ties. In March, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton presented Lavrov with a yellow box with a large red "reset" button on it, which she asked Lavrov to push with her.

On either side of the button the word "reset" was written in English and what was supposed to be a Russian translation. However, Washington's translators had made a mistake, writing the Russian for "overload" on it instead.
