IRKUTSK, May 11 (RIA Novosti) - The Irkutsk Region parliament declared Tuesday a day of mourning for regional Governor Igor Yesipovsky, who died in a helicopter accident on Sunday along with three other people.
President Dmitry Medvedev has signed an order temporarily appointing governor the first deputy head of the regional administration, Sergei Sokol, the Kremlin press service said on Monday.
The parliament voted on Monday to cancel all entertainment activities in the region on Tuesday.
The Bell-427 helicopter was discovered on Sunday afternoon around 60 kilometers southeast of the city of Irkutsk in east Siberia. Four bodies were found at the scene of the accident, and they were expected to be flown to the regional capital for formal identification on Monday.
The helicopter was carrying out a regular observation flight, with Yesipovsky, the region's first deputy prime minister, Mikhail Shtonda, pilot Viktor Kunov and bodyguard Alexander Shostak on board.
Investigators are working at the scene of the accident to determine the cause of the crash.
A high-level source close to the investigation told RIA Novosti the focus was on "a technical failure of the helicopter or pilot error."
