MEXICO, May 6 (RIA Novosti) - The number of confirmed cases of human infection with H1N1 swine flu has risen to 1,112 in Mexico, including 42 deaths, the country's health secretary said on Wednesday.

Jose Angel Cordova said 68% of the deaths were in Mexico City, and that most of the victims were aged between 20 and 29.

A total of 22 countries have officially reported 1,516 confirmed cases of the H1N1 infection, according to the World Health Organization.

"As of 06:00 GMT, 6 May 2009, 22 countries have officially reported 1516 cases of influenza A (H1N1) infection," the WHO said in an updated report on its website on Wednesday.

The WHO reiterated that no risk of infection came from the consumption of well-cooked pork and pork products, and advised against restrictions on regular travel and border closures.

Meanwhile, the number of swine flu cases has doubled to 642 people in the United States in the past 36 hours, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. The state of Illinois has the most confirmed cases with 122 infections, while New York is trailing with 97.
