ST. PETERSBURG, April 17 (RIA Novosti) - Japanese carmaker Toyota will suspend production at its plant near St. Petersburg for a second time in a month, a spokesman for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Russia said on Friday.
Toyota suspended the production of Camry cars at its Shushary plant for six working days on March 30, resuming work on April 7.
This time, the plant will put production on hold from May 1 through May 11, with employees eligible for two-thirds of their salary during the period, which includes the May Day and Victory Day holidays.
The plant, which employs 750 workers and has a capacity of 20,000 cars per year, started manufacturing Camry cars in December 2007.
Since the start of the year several car factories in Russia have temporarily suspended production amid weak sales due to the financial crisis.
