CHISINAU, April 5 (RIA Novosti) - Moldovans went to the polls on Sunday to elect a new parliament, with the ruling Communist party expected to claim a victory.
The new parliament will then elect a successor to incumbent President Vladimir Voronin who has served two four-year terms and must step down soon.
Over 2.6 million eligible voters are electing 101 members of parliament from among 12 political parties and five independent candidates. Some 5,500 local and international observers are monitoring the country's parliamentary elections.
