MOSCOW, March 31 (RIA Novosti) - A disabled pensioner has been fined $90 for assaulting a police officer and a court bailiff with metal crutches and a shovel in southwest Siberia, a Russian daily said on Tuesday.
Moskovsky Komsomolets said the woman had earlier been ordered by a court in the Novosibirsk Region to take down a shed that had been partly built on her neighbor's land. However, when the police officer and bailiff arrived to see that the order was enforced, the woman began shouting at them.
Her words quickly turned to violence however as she launched an attack on the men. The police officer was beaten with the crutches and the bailiff suffered a foot injury after being hit with the shovel, the paper said.
The woman refused to admit her guilt in court, saying that she had simply been "defending her chickens."
The court took the woman's age and disabled status into account when passing sentence.
