MOSCOW, December 15 (RIA Novosti) - The International Tchaikovsky Competition will be held for a fourteenth time in 2011, the director of the Russian Culture Ministry's modern art and international relations department said Monday.
The prestigious classical music competition, which has been held every four years since 1958, was scheduled to take place in 2010, however, the event was postponed in 2006 until 2007 due to organizational difficulties.
Alexei Shalashov told journalists that the Russian Culture Ministry had reached an agreement with the World Federation of International Music Competitions to hold the ITC in 2011 to avoid a clash on the calendar of international music events.
