PARIS, December 5 (RIA Novosti) - Armed robbers, some of them dressed as women, stole jewelry worth an estimated 80 million euros ($102 million) from a Paris jewelry shop, France Info radio said on Friday.

Four armed men, two in drag, entered the famous Harry Winston jewelry shop at 17:30 local time (16:30 p.m. GMT) on Thursday, and grabbed watches, jewelry and valuables before making their escape.

French investigators believe the robbers had inside knowledge as they knew where to find the jewels and the names of sales staff.

The Harry Winston boutique was also targeted by thieves in October 2007 when jewelry worth 10 million euros was stolen.

The radio said the heist was one of the largest thefts in France for 50 years.

French police said this year has seen a rise in armed robberies on last year's figure of 113, with some 130 robberies recorded to date.
