NIZHNY NOVGOROD, November 21 (RIA Novosti) - An HIV-infected inmate has bitten two guards in the central Russian Republic of Udmurtia, a source in the republic's investigation committee said on Friday.
The incident happened at a pre-trial detention center in the city of Votkinsk when the man refused to leave his cell.
"When staff at the pre-trial detention center attempted to take the accused of his cell out by force, he assaulted them and bite their hands and other body parts," the source said.
It is still unclear whether the guards were infected with the virus. The detainee will now face additional assault charges. No information was supplied on the original charges faced by the inmate.
