U.S. court orders release of 8-year-old killer for Thanksgiving

WASHINGTON, November 20 (RIA Novosti) - A court has ruled that an eight-year-old American boy accused of the killing of his father and another man with a hunting rifle can spend Thanksgiving with his mother.

Police released a controversial video tape of an interview with Christian Romero where he confessed to killing his father Vincent Romero, 29, and co-worker 39-year-old Timothy Romans, who rented a room in the house, in St. Johns, Arizona, on November 5.

Under Arizona law a child of eight years old can be tried as an adult.

The boy will leave the juvenile detention center, where he is being held, in eastern Arizona at noon on November 26 until noon November 28 to stay with his mother. Defense attorney Ronald Wood said it was important the boy had "somebody to talk to."

Police believe that both men were shot by Romero's son, who is now facing charges of premeditated murder.

During the police interview, Christian said he found his father and his friend murdered in their home. "There was blood all over his face, I think, and I think I touched it," he told police.

However, later the boy said the men were already shot and he just shot them again so they "wouldn't suffer."

Until his arrest, the boy had lived with his father and stepmother, who got married in September. Romero's mother lives in Mississippi but she is currently staying in St. Johns.
