"The spacecraft undocked at 19:20 Moscow time [16:20 GMT] from the Zvezda service module on board the ISS where it stayed since September 17 and began an autonomous flight to conduct a series of geophysical experiments," the Mission Control said in a statement.
According to the document, the spacecraft will be used as a "space laboratory" until December 7 before reentering the Earth's atmosphere and being "buried" in the Pacific Ocean.
The Progress M-65, launched from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan on September 10, delivered to the ISS more than 2.5 tons of fuel, oxygen, water, food and medical supplies, as well as the latest Russian-designed space suit for use during a space walk by Russian crewmembers on board the station.
Like previous cargo modules, the freighter will also be used as part of the Plasma-Progress program to explore the reflective properties, as well as the size and density, of plasma particles formed in the spacecraft's exhaust.
