MOSCOW, November 7 (RIA Novosti) - A total of 50 people on Russia's wanted list have been extradited to Russia since the start of the year, the country's Interpol Bureau said in a statement on Friday.

The statement said that the 50 people extradited or deported to Russia from foreign countries is a record for Russia in the eight years since it joined the 1957 European Convention on Extradition.

The number of countries cooperating in extradition requests is constantly increasing, with Iraq, Ecuador, Canada and Israel participating for the first time in 2008.

According to the Russian Interior Ministry, last year Interpol assisted in extradition to Russia of 46 people, who were on wanted list.

Interpol, designed to facilitate cross-border police cooperation, has 186 member countries.
