Russia to host European Table Tennis Super Cup next week

MOSCOW, November 7 (RIA Novosti) - The 2008 European Table Tennis Super Cup will be held in the Russian town of Vidnoye near Moscow on November 11 and 12, a spokeswoman for the Moscow Region administration said on Friday.

"The right to host this prestigious table tennis tournament was granted to Russia for three years by the European Table Tennis Union. Last fall the Super Cup was held in Kazan [in Russia's Volga area republic of Tatarstan]," the spokeswoman said.

She said the total amount of prize money up for grabs at the 2008 Liebherr Super Cup is $120,000, with the winner taking $50,000, the silver medalist $25,000, the bronze $15,000 and the fourth place finisher $10,000.

Europe's eight best table tennis players will take part in the tournament and the four players who fail to reach the finals will receive $5,000 each.
