MADRID, October 26 (RIA Novosti) - Spanish police have busted an international heroin trafficking ring, arresting 11 persons and seizing 32.5 kilograms of drugs, Spain's national radio announced on Sunday.
In a special operation codenamed Cervantes, Spain's national police neutralized a criminal gang that consisted of citizens from Turkey, Iran, Rumania and Spain and was engaged in the trafficking of heroin from Turkey and its sale in Spain, the radio said.
Heroin consumption has declined significantly in Spain in the past ten years. However, Spain has topped the table of cocaine use in the European Union since then.
