Russia expects capital inflow to be under $30 billion in 2008

Capital inflow into Russia in 2008 will be less than $30 billion, a government official said Monday.
MOSCOW, September 29 (RIA Novosti) - Capital inflow into Russia in 2008 will be less than $30 billion, a government official said Monday.

"We are now making calculations [on capital inflow]. I believe it will be under $30 billion," deputy economic development minister Andrei Klepach said.

According to Central Bank and Finance Ministry forecasts, the net capital inflow into Russia this year was expected to total around $40 billion.

The net capital inflow into Russia totaled $25.5 billion in January-August 2008, including a net capital outflow in August of around $4.6 billion.

Alexei Ulyukayev, the bank's first deputy chairman, earlier said the net capital inflow into Russia in January-September this year would be $20 billion, with net capital outflow in September around the level of August.

The International Monetary Fund sees the net capital inflow into Russia this year between zero and $15 billion.
