TSKHINVALI, September 25 (RIA Novosti) - A 13-year-old boy was killed on Thursday in an explosion on the outskirts of Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia, a spokesman for the disputed Georgian republic's information and press committee said.

The committee said on its website that the victim was Atsamaz Dzagoev, aged 13. The boy died after coming across an unexploded ordnance. It was also reported that another explosive device, a mine, had been found at the scene of the blast.

The incident comes after an explosion in another Georgian breakaway territory, Abkhazia. At around 3:30 a.m. (23:30 GMT Wednesday) a car filled with around 50 kg of explosives blew up near the building of the state security service in the capital, Sukhumi.

Abkhazian authorities accused Georgian special forces of staging what they called a terrorist attack. Tbilisi rejected the accusation.

Russia recognized South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states on August 26 following a five-day conflict with Georgia over South Ossetia.
