Russia's flagship national air carrier Aeroflot said Friday that it does not plan to withdraw from its subsidiaries or sell stakes in them.

SOCHI, September 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's flagship national air carrier Aeroflot said Friday that it does not plan to withdraw from its subsidiaries or sell stakes in them.

"There are no such plans," Aeroflot General Director Valery Okulov said.

The statement came after a Boeing 737, owned by Aeroflot subsidiary Aeroflot Nord, crashed during its final approach to Perm airport in the Urals on Sunday, killing all 88 people on board.

Aeroflot announced on the day of the accident it had severed ties with the subsidiary that owned the plane.

Earlier Friday, the company announced that from midnight it was terminating a joint transportation agreement with a second subsidiary, Aeroflot-Don, which will from Saturday fly under its own flag and code.

Russia's flagship carrier has also decided to ban the use of its brand name by all its subsidiary airlines.

"This measure is being taken to reduce the risks for Aeroflot, as one of the best-known and established brand names in Russia and globally," the company said Wednesday.
