Russia takes silver in men's canoe double 500m

Russia's Sergei Ulegin and Alexander Kostoglod took silver behind China in the final of the Men's Flatwater Canoe Double 500m on Saturday.
MOSCOW, August 23 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Sergei Ulegin and Alexander Kostoglod took silver behind China in the final of the Men's Flatwater Canoe Double 500m on Saturday.

The Chinese defending Olympic champions, Meng Guanliang and Yang Wenjun, successfully defended their title with a time of 1:41.025.

The Russian pair crossed the line just a quarter of a second later, while third place went to Germany's Christian Gille and Thomasz Wylenzek in 1:41.964.

Earlier Saturday, Russia's Maxim Opalev won gold in the men's canoe single 500m final.
